Will just any posture exercise do when it comes to making a lasting change to your bad posture? Most people seem to take the approach that they need to lose weight to get better posture.
The reality is you just need to work the postural muscles. The muscles that support your spine and really not anything else. Chances are you're already doing too much in the front of your body, that's why you're hunched over.
Spend some time doing posture exercises and see how you feel!

Is Posture Correction Possible?
Yes! A lot of factors are involved, but they're not always what you think.
Most people will do fine by getting started on the right posture exercises when they want to learn about posture correction.
Some may need to see a chiropractor to get the spine moving and in the right alignment, but doing exercises during and after will go a long way in making a difference there.
Most of the issue is that your bad posture began because of your daily activities. If you're doing enough exercises to counteract your daily tasks and things you must do, you won't see a difference.
You can do it!

Improve Posture Fast!
The best way to improve posture fast is to shorten the learning curve on what doesn't work.
If you start by going through a process of buying gadgets and braces, you'll only take longer and spend too much time on stuff that doesn't work.
Go straight to the source, build up the muscles in your back and stretch the muscles in your front if you want to get better posture fast.
I found good information at Posture-Exercise.com

Exercises To Improve Posture
If you're going to do exercises to improve posture, the best choice is to not focus so much on abs.
People seem to think that good abs equals good posture. The problem with that is that abs are on the front of your body, the same part that's already getting too short and tight.
The front of the body usually needs to be stretched, not strengthened. Abs make up a good part of building up your core muscles, but you've got to spend more time on your back muscles.

Good luck!

How Do You Get Better Posture?
What is it? What's the secret? How can you possibly know what it takes to improve posture? Is it a matter of finding the right posture support or do you need to exercise? Is it just something you were born with? Is it something you needed to develop as a child or can you make changes now?
In a nutshell...
The secret to improving posture is consistency with doing a variety of activities, or doing an activity (like specific exercises) geared toward counteracting a one-sided activity (like working on a computer or golf).
You don't need any posture supports if your muscles are strong enough, and using one will only make your muscles weaker. Posture supports work great if you are in crisis (like in a lot of pain).
... and it's not too late. Sure it's easier if you develop good posture as a child, but you can certainly counteract all that you do all day by taking action now.
